Author Content Guide Slidebook

Tools used: Canva, Microsoft Word

My role: Subject matter expert, instructional designer and eLearning developer

Client: N/A

Problem: In the rising age of social media as a book marketing tool, authors are often searching for guides that bridge understanding, inspire application and encourage their creation in content. Aspiring or emerging independent authors were often coming to me for content ideas and to talk about my posting schedule. I needed an asynchronous solution to share this knowledge with anyone who was curious, whether or not they knew me enough to talk to me directly.

Solution: Developed a forty-three slide content guide for authors using social media for book marketing, in which the resource can be consumed asynchronously. Visual learning is intended through this resource for the nature of the subject matter. Not only do the colourful and visually engaging slides maintain attention, but also helps to explain what can be a complex process for understanding and stimulates the imagination for creation. Learning emerges from this slidebook due to sectioned presentation of information, simple diagrams, provided examples, and a personable written voice based on experience. Over 130 authors have utilised this resource to enhance their marketing strategies.
